Skin is body largest organ, made of water, protein, fats, minerals. The skin and it's derivatives(nails, air, sweat & oil glands) makeup the integumentary system(means body outer layer).
It act as protecting barrier between internal organs and external environment.
LAYERS OF SKIN.
Epidermis: outermost layer, it protecting body from environment and contains cells that produce melanin, which gives it's color.
Dermis: Middle layer contain blood vessels ( supply blood), hair follicles( grow hair attach to dermis), sweat glands( make sweat through skin pores), has collagen that is a protein that makes skin cells strong.
Hypodermis: Innermost layer, consist of fats, cell help regulate temperature, have muscle and cushion which protect you from injuries when you fall or are an accident.
FUNCTION OF SKIN.
Protection: skin act as barrier against microorganisms, UV-radiation.
Sensation: Nerve ending in skin allow us to feel sensation such as touch, temperature, pressure.
Excretion: Sweat glands help eliminate waste products from body.
Absorption: Certain substances can be absorbed through skin, which is principle behind topical medication.
CONDITIONS OR DISORDERS THAT AFFECT ON SKIN.
Allergies like contact dermatitis and poison ivy rashes.
Blisters
Skin infection like cellulitis (a common bacterial skin infection that causes redness, swelling, and pain in the infected area of the skin)
Skin rashes, dry skin
Bug bites, such as spider, tick, mosquitos bites
Skin cancer, including melanoma
Skin disorder like acne, eczema, vitiligo
Skin lesions such as moles, freckles, tags
Wound, burn like sun burn, scars
SKIN TYPE.
Skin type is not actually thing the fact is that your skin changes at several facts like age, climate change, diet, hormonal imbalance, skin care routine.
